Transient Spirit - Particle Simulation made with Houdini.

Another of the first few projects I had made while learning Houdini in 2023. I had previously followed Voxyde's 'Patronus' tutorial and wanted to adapt it to create a similar effect but with it coming into existence from the feet up. To achieve this, I created a direction vector that would swirl up and around the walking mixamo animation. Starting with some curves for the general direction I transferred the attribute to the character, blurred it, and blended it with the cross product of that vector with the vertex normals. Then with some additional particles and a simple smoke simulation, I rendered it out with many layers to grade and composite together with some nice exponential glow for the final look.
