Ship hull destruction action shot made with Houdini.
One of a few projects I had made during the beginning of 2023 while learning how to use Houdini. This started with a voronoi fracture that had been stretched to replicate wood splinters. Adjacent pieces were then connected in clumps for the glue constraints which held together the chunks and determined their breaking points. The pieces were packed and simulated inside of a dopnet using rigid body dynamics. Scene layout was created in Blender using mostly Poly Haven models and textures, composited in NukeX to add some additional smoke elements, and colour graded in Davinci Resolve for the final look.
